DASHTICK HURDY GUITAR
A fretless, crank-driven guitar built around a simple idea: turn the handle and let it howl.
The Dashtick Hurdy Guitar is a stripped-down electroacoustic instrument somewhere between a guitar, a hurdy-gurdy and a mechanical noise machine. Its almost primitive construction puts function before ornament, embracing the raw, handmade aesthetic of Dashtick Guitars.
An ebonized maple fingerboard, marked with copper navigation dots, offers a dark, understated playing surface with just enough visual guidance to find your way. No frets, no fixed boundaries - just continuous pitch, wild glissandos, bending drones and howling, sliding tones that move freely between melody and noise.
A punchy piezo pickup captures the instrument's direct acoustic attack, mechanical textures and woody resonance, ready to be pushed through amplifiers, effects and whatever else happens to be within reach.
Unpolished, tactile and unapologetically unconventional, the Dashtick Hurdy Guitar is not about perfection. It's about friction, repetition, overtones and the strange beauty of a simple mechanism turned into a musical instrument.
Crank it. Drag it. Let it howl.
