Minotaur Hurdy Guitar

DASHTICK MINOTAUR

Five strings. One crank. No way out.

A semi-acoustic, five-string hurdy guitar — a Minotaur-headed monster of an instrument, luring audiences into an ancient labyrinth of drones, overtones and mechanical rhythms.

Part guitar, part hurdy-gurdy, part mythological beast, the Minotaur is built for hypnotic melodies, relentless drones and sounds somewhere between ancient ritual and experimental noise.

Four main strings provide the melodic and drone foundation, joined by a shorter, banjo-style drone string with its own distinctive growl. Five sympathetic strings, running across an ebony jawari bridge, add a sizzling layer of resonant overtones, bringing a touch of sitar-like shimmer to the instrument's raw, mechanical voice.

A hand-carved Minotaur head crowns the headstock, giving the beast a face to match its sound. A high-quality Fortevio pickup captures its acoustic character, buzzing strings and complex harmonics, ready to be unleashed through amplification and effects.

Handmade, slightly feral and unapologetically unconventional. Just wood, strings, a crank and a mythical creature that knows the way into the maze — but not the way out.

Turn the handle. Feed the Minotaur. Lose yourself in the labyrinth.

Fully Dashtickesque.
